Work Day 4 - Denial of Man

Today was a very very wet day....it rained for about 85% of the day with lightning in the morning.  Despite the weather some crews were able to get a little accomplished.  Erik and Don painted and finished their work today, tomorrow they will be going to another site to help finish.  Colton and Isaiah painted a little bit but had to sit in the bus due to the weather.  They mentioned that they have used 2 cans of wasp spray at their house and there are still a lot of wasps around, Colton got stung today, but is doing fine.  Deana and Katie got a few more shingles on the roof, tore the flooring out of an couple rooms in the house and plan on finishing tomorrow.  Mark's crew finished the roof early today and them went to work on the house that Deana and Katie are working on.   He is helping lay the floor and put up drywall on the ceiling/walls.  Caite attempted to paint today but it ended up getting too wet and the paint ran down the house.  Allie sat on the wet ground to paint trim and that paint ended up getting washed away too, she was very disappointed.  Jana noted that they had very good devotions today at their site and she got to now their homeowner better.  There was a kitchen fire in the house today while the crew was there.  One of the youth saw the fire while standing on a ladder.  Luckily the homeowners 14 year old grandson grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the fire.  There was another young boy in the house and Jana ran in to get him out.  Thankfully the fire got taken care of and everyone got out OK.  Their homeowner shared that everyone has something hard in their life, but its something we have to go through and it makes us stronger or weaker, it's our choice.  They are hoping to finish their house tomorrow, but they need the weather to cooperate.  Kacey, Andrew and Clarissa got the last coat of paint on their areas and then went to help another group.  Tomorrow they have to finish some touch up and scrub the paint off the floors.  Kacey got the opportunity to talk with the youth staying at their house some more.  Andrew, Kacey, and Clarissa were voted in the top 4 hardest workers in their crew.  Abby got very very wet while shingling the roof in the rain.  They worked through all but about one and a half hours of the rain.  All that is left tomorrow forfor her crew is some finishing touches.  Hopefully she will have dry shoes to put on in the morning.

In tonights worship he shared about how much evidence there is that our bodies were created by Christ.  We watched a  short video of Louie Gigleo talking about the evidence in our bodies to show the connection with God.  He talked about a protein called Laminin.  This protein is responsible for holding cells together, its kind of like the glue which stops us from falling apart.  This protein alone is evidence of our connection with God.  We have attached a picture that shows a drawing of it as well as a picture of the actual protein.  You will notice its unique yet obvious shape.  How amazing that the molecule which literally holds our bodies together is in the shape of the symbol which holds our lives together.

We discussed the denial of man and that after Peter denied Christ we begin to see a "new Peter". He now shows that no matter what happens or may happen, he will follow Christ; regardless of the punishment by man.  Acts 4:13-20 is evidence of his strength.  These were just ordinary men who stood up for their faith, denied man and followed Christ.  There are 3 parts to denial of man;
1. Denial of man begins with truly knowing Jesus; not just being acquaintances.  This means wanting him more than anything else.
2. Denial of man comes when we choose to follow Him and only Him.
3. Denial of man happens when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead.  We have to submit to His leadership.

The same power that created the world and resurrected Jesus from the grave dwells within us; so why do we carry a Spirit of fear?

We all must choose to deny man or to deny Christ; what is your choice?
